The Pull of Gravity

You can feel it. Gravity. Such a simple thing.

No giant robots. No superheroes. No zombies or serial killers or high-concept plot twists that involve head-scratchingly inane alternate-universe worlds. Just a simple story. Two people. One accident.

I can’t think of anything I want to watch more.

Director Alfonso Cuaron, of course, directed Children of Men and by far the best of the Harry Potter films and Y Tu Mama Tambien. You’re familiar with George Clooney and Sandra Bullock.

Honestly, I don’t want to see or hear or read anything more than what I have right here, in this trailer. This is just right. Here is a set up. The rest is film. The rest is experience and story.

We just have to wait until October.

  1. sandra bullock makes my teeth itch, and not in a good way. but i would watch cuaron direct traffic. i’ve been waiting for this one for a long time.

  2. Agreed re: Ms. Bullock…

That said, I have come to accept that all actors — regardless of their previous credits — can be used by great directors in satisfying ways. Lorraine Bracco, Cathy Moriarty and Jerry Lewis come to mind…

And since Mr. Cuaron has made the only move in the past 15 years that belongs on the same shelf as LAWRENCE OF ARABIA or 2001, I have total faith that he will use her effectively.

So stop yer whining, Supreme Being. (I just wanted to say that last sentence. I don’t really feel that way)
